la belle dame sans merci
Sorry this one is a late-arriving magical entry. I'd been fussing around for five days about some spells in the Enochian alphabet I was going to put in the golden dame's hands, but last night's Solstice present of a book containing images of an old Italian tarot took me out of my misery.

Wednesday 14 December 2011
I just realized I've been remiss about introducing myself. I was born in 1955 and grew up in Houston, but lately I'm one homesick Texan, 'cause I live in Maryland just outside the DC Beltway. I'm a retired physician, I'm married to a ponytailed botanist who works for NASA, and we have cats instead of kids. I just started making collages in 2010, as part of an ongoing fascination with mail art, Dada, surrealism, Max Ernst, Hannah Hoch, etc. etc. So far, all my collages have been dropped in the mail, mostly as postcards.
That's me in the middle, surrounded by some of my favorite things--which, going clockwise, are horror literature (Edgar A. Poe on famous opening para of "The Fall of the House of Usher"); horror films (the classic, surprisingly non-gory, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"); writing (favorite Bexley fountain pen lying on a letter I wrote); Patti Smith (rock-musician/writer/artist extraordinaire); sharks (a beautiful blacktip reefer); collage (scissors); the warrior goddess Durga (from Hindu pantheon); and appreciating fine art (detail of painting by Gordon Onslow Ford).
In the unlikely event that you want to read more about me, =grin= I was just interviewed by a literary blog about my experience doing National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo).

Theme of the Week - Recycled
Seems to be just me, Lynn and Ron doing all the work just lately? What's up with the rest of you?
Will have to start thinking about deleting folks from the blog if they don't contribute on a regular basis. Recyled is a pretty broad theme so no excuses!

Theme of the Week - Bugs
You can ofcourse interpret this theme any way you like. It doesn't have to be the creepy crawly kind of bug. Have fun!
